Retro Bar Stools can often be somewhere in the middle between the elegant or contemporary or sharp and the wooden or softer feeling stools. They are often made of steel with chrome finish, and often accentuate the spirit of an era gone by, such as the 50’s. They will resemble the stools found in the old-time diners, where a person would sit at the oval bar, and be served by a waiter or waitress operating in the center of the oval. Often retro bar counter stool seats will be stitched the emblems of the sports teams and sold in support of various basketball, football, or baseball teams. Such retro stools make a great addition to any game room and are great for kitchens and dinettes as well for people always on the run. Besides black leather and black faux leather, retro stools come in other colors, typically red. They would rarely come as swivel stools.
Leather: Most ”Leather” that you will find in your bar stool search is actually fabric-backed vinyl. Due to the extra time and cost required for real leather seating, the price of the bar stool will generally be $50 to $150 MORE than a comparable vinyl but will last much longer and feel much better due to its ability to ”Breathe”. Vinyl is prone to tearing, cracking and warping more so than fabric or leather. Synthetic suede fabrics are a much better option if this is a concern. Sun, dry air, excessive heat and cold as well as exposure to certain chemicals or cleaners can also destroy vinyl.
Some professions call for heavy-duty seating where a typical office chair or stool would not withstand, and damage resistant furniture is required. Industrial stools provide a high quality seating solution for factory, clean-room, laboratory, and other harsh environments where durability, damage resistance, and ergonomic seating support is needed. Most industrial seating stools come with a tough polyurethane material on the seat and back of the chair. Polyurethane withstands stains, spills, rips, and tears; ideal for even the toughest work environments.
One feature that is not entirely necessary but is still important to consider is height adjustment. You may find yourself wanting to use your bar stool in a different capacity which is when having height adjustment would really become beneficial. Seat height adjustment is also advantageous if you are not sure if a stationary stool will fit correctly underneath your counter. Having this feature eliminates the worry and finding exact measurements when trying to figure out the exact seat height needed to fit under certain counter heights.
